Virtual Tour Blog

This module was very enlightening, never heard of a virtual field trip until now.  But using online tools to guide students through a tour is very clever and helpful. The Skype feature is great because it can help if you could get a tour guide to answer questions you may not be able to answer. The Wix website seemed helpful but I had trouble navigating some of the features. I’ll continue to play around with that feature later to get the hang of it. Overall this was a fun module.

Collaboration Module 6

Collaboration Module 6 This module we discussed technology centered around cloud storage like Apple iCloud, Dropbox and so on. We also discussed technology on meetings using Skype,FaceTime and join me. This type of technology is very helpful in a fast pace society. Very convenient to have meetings when you’re unable to physically be there in person. I’ve seen more of my son’s teachers use google classroom and other apps to help students learn or guide them when they’re having a difficult time studying. I use similar technology when I’m putting out important info to my colleagues and this module open my eyes to recommend to my superior and using other options if current option fails.

Quizlet, Actively Learn and Quia

The module was very interesting we discussed three technology tools. One that I was familiar with was,  Quizlet  is a mobile and web-based study application that allows students to study information via learning tools and games. It is currently used by 2-in-3 high school students and 1-in-3 college students. The second tool was   Actively Learn is an online literacy platform designed to help students read for depth, by letting teachers activate,  support, and reveal student thinking while reading. Finally the we discussed    Quia   (short for the Quintessential Instructional Archive). Hundreds of thousands of teachers and students have used this valuable on-line tool to create interactive quizzes and games using their own content.  I think I would still use quizlet in my career field since I feel it’s the most common and to me.  I feel Quia would be a challenge to use because it’s fairly new to me. But I think I could eventually ...

UDL

Module 3 In Module 3 we discussed- Universal Design for Learning  is a set of principles for curriculum development that give all individuals equal opportunities to learn. UDL provides a blueprint for creating instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments that work for everyone–not a single, one-size-fits-all solution but rather flexible approaches that can be customized and adjusted for individual needs.  People tend to   bring a huge variety of skills and interests to learning. Neurosciencetists  reveals that these differences are as vrandom  and unique as our DNA or fingerprints. Three primary brain networks come into play:        Another item that was discussed, was cyberhate, mainly on social media and ways to monitor and negate it.         Social media can be an effective way to reach student but it shouldn’t be the main outlet. It can be used to         reach some s...
